Mrs. Jane Pitt – the mother of actor Brad Pitt, Pax Thien’s grandmother – has just died at the age of 84, leaving great grief for her children and grandchildren.
Brad Pitt’s granddaughter, Sydney Pitt, announced the sad news on Instagram on August 6: “Our beloved grandmother, Jane Etta, we are not ready to say goodbye.
But the thought that she is now free to sing, dance and paint again makes her heart a little lighter. If you have ever met her, you will know that she is a person with a big heart. She cares deeply about everyone, everything, no excuses, no questions.”

Sydney talks about her grandmother’s love for each of her grandchildren, describing her as “the purest embodiment of love”. “She can keep up with all 14 grandchildren without any fatigue.
Her love for us is unconditional, anyone who has ever met her can feel it,” she wrote. “We are so lucky to have grown up in her arms and I know she lives forever in the hearts of each of us.”
Jane Pitt dies, leaving behind her husband, William Alvin Pitt, three children and 14 grandchildren, including six grandchildren who were Brad Pitt’s children with Angelina Jolie: Maddox, Pax Thien, Zahara, Shiloh, Knox and Vivienne.

In his youth, Brad Pitt’s mother was a teacher, school counselor, and philanthropist. She and William Alvin Pitt, owners of a trucking company, raise their three children, Brad, Doug Pitt and Julie Neal, in Springfield, Missouri.
Mrs. Jane and her husband lead a simple life, away from the spotlight. Many years ago, the two occasionally attended some big events with their son and grandchildren, such as the 2012 Oscars or the premiere of Angelina Jolie’s film Unbroken in 2014.
In 2009, Brad and his siblings donated $1 million to build the Jane Pitt Children’s Cancer Center in Missouri. It is the first place in the region to have a doctor specializing in oncology and pediatric hematology.
In a 2018 WorldServe International video, Jane shared: “I am so proud of all my children. They see people’s urgent needs and try to meet them. That’s amazing.”

Last June, at the special screening of the new movie F1, Brad Pitt once sent greetings to his mother when interviewing a reporter on the Today program.
“I have to say hello to my mom because she always watches this show every morning. Love you, Jane Pitt,” he said, sending a kiss to the camera.
