‘He’s a loser’: Tim Walz says Elon Musk’s ‘toxic personality’ repels voters.
In a bold and pointed remark, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz didn’t hold back when criticizing Elon Musk’s influence on the political landscape, specifically following Musk’s involvement in the Wisconsin elections.
Describing the tech mogul’s “toxic personality” as a liability for any political cause he aligns with, Walz suggested that the Democratic National Committee (DNC) might want to consider using Musk’s presence in their campaigns—but only as a surefire way to lose.
The remark came after Musk’s influence, particularly in swing states like Wisconsin, was blamed for an “absolute massacre” in the electoral results.
Musk had been involved in backing certain political figures or causes tied to his controversial views, and some observers believe his public support inadvertently harmed the candidates he was trying to back.
Musk’s involvement in the Wisconsin elections was contentious from the start.
Known for his divisive stance on various political issues—ranging from free speech on social media platforms to his vocal criticism of government policies—Musk’s influence in the state became a point of contention.
While Musk has a massive following through his ventures like Tesla, SpaceX, and Twitter (now X), his polarizing personality has increasingly made him a figure who garners as much animosity as he does admiration.
During the Wisconsin election, Musk’s outspoken comments and support for certain Republican candidates seemed to backfire, with many political analysts attributing the lackluster performance of those candidates in part to Musk’s influence.
In his usual unfiltered style, Musk voiced his support for conservative causes, particularly aligning himself with Republican rhetoric, which often alienates moderate and progressive voters.
Some have suggested that his polarizing views may have contributed to the significant loss for certain GOP candidates in the state, despite Wisconsin being a critical swing state in national elections.
Walz, a Democratic governor, took to social media and public statements to address Musk’s role in the election fallout.
Referring to Musk’s actions as an “absolute massacre” in Wisconsin, Walz pointed out that Musk’s personal brand—marked by controversy, arrogance, and his volatile statements—likely repelled more voters than it attracted.
“Maybe the DNC should think about hiring Elon Musk and sending him to every race that we’re in,” Walz joked during a recent appearance.
“Because we will win.I mean, if there’s one thing we’ve learned, it’s that Musk’s toxic personality can really help our candidates win by driving voters away.”
Walz’s comments were laced with sarcasm, as he underscored the idea that Musk’s influence could act as a “gift” to the Democratic Party, inadvertently ensuring that voters would flock to the opposition simply to distance themselves from Musk’s brand of activism.
His critique of Musk was not just a direct attack on the billionaire but also a broader commentary on the damage that high-profile personalities can inflict on a political campaign.
Walz’s characterization of Musk as having a “toxic personality” is part of a growing sentiment that Musk’s public persona has become a double-edged sword in politics.
On one hand, Musk is a technology genius and an innovator, but on the other hand, his frequent controversies and bombastic behavior, especially on platforms like Twitter/X, have alienated a significant portion of the electorate.
From his dismissive comments on workers’ rights and labor issues to his apparent disregard for the consequences of his outspoken political stances, Musk’s actions often paint him as out of touch with the average American voter.
His tendency to engage in heated online spats with politicians, journalists, and celebrities only adds to his reputation as a divisive figure.
In this context, Musk’s involvement in political races has been less about influencing the outcome for the better and more about turning off voters who might otherwise lean toward the candidates he supports.
His brand of political activism, which leans heavily on provocative statements and Twitter storms, has done little to endear him to those who value nuance and reasoned discourse.
For his part, Musk has continued to brush off criticism, often doubling down on his positions.
He frequently takes to social media to engage with critics, sometimes with humor, but more often with defensiveness and occasional dismissiveness.
Musk’s strategy, in many ways, is to embrace controversy as part of his personal and professional identity.
This approach, however, seems to clash with traditional political campaigning, where a carefully curated image and broad appeal are key to securing support.
Musk has been an outspoken supporter of free speech, which has made his recent acquisition of Twitter (now X) a focal point in debates about platform responsibility, censorship, and political discourse.
His self-styled “outsider” approach to both business and politics has won him admirers among the conservative right, but it has also earned him the ire of those on the left, as well as moderates who see his polarizing behavior as a destabilizing force.
