Madonna and Elton John have officially put their longtime feud behind them.

On April 7, Madonna posted a backstage photo with John after his Saturday Night Live appearance, revealing they had reconciled. Her caption read, “We Finally Buried the Hatchet!!!”

Their history has been rocky, with Elton John frequently taking jabs at Madonna over the years. \

One of the most notable moments was in 2004, when John criticized her at the Q Awards, claiming she lip-synced during live performances. In 2012 Australia’s Channel 7 interview, John called Madonna “a nightmare” and said that “her career is over.”

In her Instagram posts, Madonna admitted the comments had affected her deeply. The singer explained that she had admired John since her teenage years.

She recalled sneaking out to see him live in Detroit while still in high school. Madonna said that the experience “helped me to understand that it was OK to be different-to stand out- to take the road, less traveled by.”

Despite her admiration, Madonna admitted that it hurt to hear John criticize her so publicly. That’s why she decided to attend his SNL performance in person and speak to him directly.

Madonna said upon meeting backstage, John immediately said “Forgive me,” and the tension melted away. That moment led to emotional reconciliation and the duo hugged.

The singer concluded her post with, “Then he told me had written a song for me and he wanted to collaborate. It was like everything came full circle!! And you can tell everybody , This is Your Song.” John also acknowledged the meeting by resharing her post on his Instagram story. He called it “a healing moment.”
